Of all the arts, classical music is perhaps the most intimidating – but it needn’t be, says the satirist behind Veep and The Thick of It, Armando Iannucci.

For the uninitiated, it can be terrifying. Pricey tickets, stuffy concert halls and the feeling you need specialist knowledge to understand it leads many to decide that classical music is not for them.

But for Armando Iannucci, it is one of the great joys in his life. He still remembers the moment when he fell in love with classical music, in a music appreciation lesson at school.
