Marketing Manager
Wolf Trap
Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts seeks a Manager, Marketing to research, develop, implement and evaluate an integrated strategic marketing plan necessary to achieve Wolf Trap Foundation communication goals to increase revenue – both earned and contributed, and deepen public awareness of the full breadth of Wolf Trap’s diverse arts and education programs. This position works closely with the Director, Marketing and other Foundation staff to develop and implement marketing plans to achieve the Foundation’s strategic goals.


  • Develop a comprehensive multi-channel marketing strategy for Wolf Trap artistic seasons and individual performances
  • Negotiate, purchase, analyze, and traffic traditional paid advertising (print, broadcast, out-of-home, and digital) and non-paid media promotions
  • Develop and implement digital marketing initiatives for website, email, display advertising, and paid social media campaigns
  • Coordinate with artist management on marketing strategies for individual performances
  • Develop effective marketing metrics and review effectiveness of marketing channels
  • Coordinate the development of creative assets including radio spots, TV spots, digital, direct mail, print, and additional marketing collateral to support marketing efforts
  • Write clear, compelling marketing copy for various mediums
  • Oversee the distribution of marketing materials including brochures, handbills, and posters
  • Represent the foundation at area and on-site marketing events and activities
  • Supervise the Coordinator, Marketing using management best practices in alignment with Wolf Trap Foundation’s goals and values
  • Hire, train, and supervise marketing interns
  • Assist in the planning, forecasting, and oversight of marketing budget
  • Research and monitor other organizations’ marketing initiatives
Team Collaboration:
  • Contribute to content creation for blog, email, and social media
  • Oversee press office or on-site media on select summer performance nights
  • Other duties as assigned
  • BA/BS degree in communications, marketing, advertising or a related field
  • 5-7 years of marketing/media buying experience for a performing arts venue
  • Knowledge of music industry and performing arts
  • Understanding of Washington Metro area demographics and media landscape
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to proof-read and edit all written and visual materials for clarity, content, and accuracy
  • Strong business work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to work in a team environment
  • Motivated, outgoing, and an effective networker with a polished and professional image that positively reflects on the organization
  • High level of detail, organization, and self-initiative with an ability to handle multiple assignments under the pressure of tight deadlines
  • Ability to shift between performance genres and projects quickly and efficiently, and re-prioritize as marketing needs change and materialize
  • Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends; some travel may be required
